Difficult Campground

Difficult Campground is a scenic and rustic campground situated at an elevation of 10,000 feet and is surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains. The campground is located along the banks of the Roaring Fork River and is nestled among groves of aspen and pine trees, providing a tranquil and picturesque setting.

Despite its name, Difficult Campground is actually quite easy to access, with paved roads leading to the site. However, the campground is relatively primitive, with no electricity or water hookups, and limited amenities. There are vault toilets available, but visitors will need to bring their own water and supplies.

The campground offers 47 campsites, including some that are suitable for RVs and trailers up to 32 feet in length. The sites are spacious and well-spaced, providing plenty of privacy and room to relax. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, and firewood can be purchased on site.

Reservations can be made for sites I – 26, 30, and 47 at Difficult Campground by calling the National Reservation Center at 1-877-444-6777 or on-line at ReserveUSA.com. All other sites are first-come first-serve.

The campground is heavily treed and many sites are shaded. Water, garbage and vault toilets are provided.
